Our history

Since 1979. Built on experience. Developed with vision.

The history of ESTET Stahl- und Behälterbau dates back to 1979. What began under the leadership of Werner Stadler, an engineer, as a small metalworking workshop with five employees has, over the decades, developed into a versatile manufacturing company specialising in sophisticated industrial applications.

Milestones in our development

1979–1980 | The foundation for our development

In 1979, ESTET Stahl- und Behälterbau was founded with its headquarters in Eisenerz – a town closely linked to the history of the Styrian iron and steel industry through its historic Erzberg mine.

As early as 1980, Werner Stadler, an engineer, began setting up the metalworking workshop at the new site in St. Michael in Upper Styria with five employees. With his pioneering spirit and entrepreneurial commitment, he shaped the development of ESTET over many decades.

1985–1995 | From a metalworking workshop to an industrial partner

ESTET developed into a versatile steel construction company and established itself as a manufacturing partner to renowned crane and plant manufacturers.

In 1991, the company was awarded the Styrian coat of arms. The first welding approvals in 1993 and ISO 9001 certification in 1995 laid important foundations for the company’s further development.

1997 | Expansion of the group of companies

With the arrival of Mag. Helga Stadler, who takes over commercial management, a further step is taken in the company’s development: the founding of ESTET Personal GmbH expands the range of services to include the provision of qualified skilled workers.

2000–2010 | New markets and areas of expertise

By entering the field of component manufacturing for locomotives and railway carriages, ESTET taps into a significant new business sector. International client relationships are established, and the high quality standards of rail vehicle construction shape the company’s further development.

Awards from renowned industrial clients confirm the company’s capabilities. Certifications to ISO 3834-2 and EN 15085-2 CL1 demonstrate the high standards required for welding production.

2011 | Continuity and new impetus

After many years of joint management, Ing. Werner Stadler steps down from the management board and hands over entrepreneurial responsibility to the next generation. Mag. Helga Stadler continues to steer the company’s development and provides fresh impetus for its future direction.

2012–2021 | The Highest Standards of Quality and Safety

With certification to EN 1090 EXC 4, ESTET achieves the highest execution class for load-bearing steel and aluminium structures.

Further certifications and qualifications follow, underlining the company’s expertise in the manufacture and assembly of complex structures.

Occupational health and safety are also consistently being further developed: certification to OHSAS 18001 in 2015 is followed by certification to ISO 45001 in 2021.

2023 | New capacity for environmental technology

With the construction of its own assembly hall, ESTET is expanding its capabilities for the mechanical, hydraulic and electrical final assembly of small batches, particularly in the field of environmental technology.

2024 | Systematic environmental management

With certification to ISO 14001, the existing management system is expanded to include an internationally recognised standard for environmental management.

In doing so, ESTET underlines its commitment to systematically embedding environmental responsibility within the company, alongside quality and occupational safety.

Our history is shaped by experience, change and the courage to break new ground. It is with this mindset that we are shaping our future – with gratitude for what we have achieved and openness to what lies ahead.
